Performs activities associated with selling, stocking and ordering merchandise in a retail or sales operation. Incumbents in this classification may be assigned to one or more specific merchandise areas within an operation and work within established guidelines in performing tasks. Difficult or unusual problems are typically referred to supervisor.

• Handling Cash and processing EFT receipts
• Reporting on sales revenue for the day
• Stock takes for Inventory and Asset
• Purchase order processing for groups
• Checks and verifies such documents as invoices, and purchase orders, and contacts vendors to correct errors
• Checks documents for accuracy of name, amounts, and date. Assists customers in locating merchandise and answering a variety of questions concerning general merchandise
• Stocks shelves, counters or tables with merchandise keeps merchandise orderly and neat in appearance
• Totals prices and tax on merchandise selected by customer using paper and pencil, cash register or adding machine.
• Counts and balances cash register and receipts
• Checks tagged prices to verify accuracy
• Sets up promotional displays; makes signs or arranges merchandise on counters or tables to promote sales

Key responsibilities

• Record data from forms, correspondence, reports, and other documents
• Sets up and maintains current records on accounts, employee information files, work orders, client registration, and information sheets on Excel spreadsheets
• Maintains and updates files for payment documents, invoices, purchase orders, requisitions, accounts payable and receivable, and correspondence
• Gathers and collates records as requested to compile information
• Accurately produce and maintain manual and computer files and hard copy filing systems for each property in accordance with procedures.
• Ensure that all correspondence in the form of standard letters and forms and related filing is carried out strictly.
• Promptly process all telephone calls and deal with any queries in the absence or otherwise of the person to whom the call is addressed.
• Provide support in a variety of capabilities.
• Ensure all documentations are properly filed.Handle and store mail securely to maintain the confidentiality of correspondence.
• Assist in stationery requisition, including printing of name cards, forms, letterheads, etc.
